BUS 201T Sales and Use Tax - 8:30 am - 12:00pm
This class will address many of the issues you all experience working with NC sales and use taxes. In this class you will be taught about the details in North Carolina sales and use tax that can help you get it right. Some of the topics that will be covered include tax on subscriptions, tax on computer software and web-based services, taxable and tax-exempt sales, taxable services, tax on equipment leases, refundable taxes that are commonly overlooked, nonrefundable taxes, record keeping requirements, and how to keep up with law changes and rate changes.
ACC 105T Special Topics in Financial Management - 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm
This class covers special topics encountered by the individual school treasurer, but not covered in
the other classes. Areas to be covered will include the relationship with PTAs/PTSAs, the relationship
with booster clubs, relationships with business partners, relationships with student clubs and organizations,
controls over athletic ticket sales, specialized cash security/deposit concerns in secondary schools,
controls over athletic expenditures, payments to booking agents, officials, and security officers, and
controls over concession sales. Although some of the topics may not currently be the responsibility of all attendees, it is felt that they
should be required to attend this class, as they may be put in a school where this knowledge is expected.
Also, due to the topics covered in this class, it is also felt that participants need to invite their principal to attend this
class with the school treasurer. If the principal cannot attend, we would like to have the principal send one designee of their school, instead. One suggestion for a designee would be the athletic director.
